I recently posted that when I applied the latest update for Windows 10 on my Dell Inspiron 13 my PE 14 stopped working. One reply was a caustic response that Windows does not cause such problems the operator does. Well I do not agree...

I only use this PC for travel. I usually upload my images and do a batch rename and resize. I really do not want to buy a new PC so my question?

Is there a free photo editing program that allows batch renaming and resizing? Basic editing would be a plus..

Thanks!
Hank

Irfanview has been my go-to editor for batch processing for years. I'd highly recommend it.

Try Fastone resizer, that's exactly what I use it for, resize and watermark.

Hank,

I won't be caustic. If you want to get PE14 working, I have polite suggestions.

Faststone Image Resizer and Faststone Image Viewer are two free programs and they both work wonders. Well worth a try. I use them extensively. The image viewer has some basic editing as well as being an excellent viewer. Have a GREAT DAY!

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling Photoshop Elements?

I keep my computer up-to-date with Win10 updates. I had a weak moment a few years ago and bought PSE 14 (i don't use it). However, I just opened on my computer and seems to be working. If you want PSE 14 to work, have considered reinstalling it (assuming you bought the disk)?

As has been suggested FastStone is nice little program.

Unfortunately, most uninstalls don't uninstall everything. There are still remnants of Elements that are in 3 or four different places and you have to go under the hood, so to speak and manually delete them from areas that the average home user are not familiar or comfortable with. If you are comfortable with deleting such things manually, email me and I'll tell you where to look. That still won't guaranty that reinstalling it will then work, but it may be worth a shot.

Faststone Resizer can do that and a lot more... but there's no manual for it. Just look online for other users' advice or explore it's capabilities yourself.

They also sell MaxView and some other software that might be worth considering. They're relatively low cost.

Me.... It's just spring for Adobe Elements 2018 instead. More functionality and at $80 right now, pretty inexpensive.

I have PSE 9 on my wife's Windows 10 Professional Dell Tower and it works fine. I just used it earlier today after not touching it for over a year. I use Ps CS6 on my Win 10 Home Dell Tower daily. It took a bit to get used to the different flow and interface of PSE vs Ps.

I've been using Irfanview for almost 20 years; it's on every computer I own. For quick batch resizing, I use TinyPic (www.efpage.de)

I've been using gimp to edit images, including cropping and resizing, for many years. It is installed on every computer I own. Despite the complaints about its interface, I found it to be very similar to PhotoShop.
