I'm a long-time, serious amateur photographer. Just bought a Canon EOS 77D, my second EOS and probably about my sixth digital camera. (The first was a Mavica I bought in 1999.)

My first camera was a Brownie Hawkeye. My first SLR was a Praktica Hanimax, an East German camera, which got some smiles from the East German border guards when I crossed through Checkpoint Charlie into East Berlin in the 1960s. Over the years I've collected and used several Canon and Nikon cameras. Have had some photos published in newspapers, but none in a long time.

I used Photoshop a long time ago. Have just subscribed to the Adobe photo service to get the latest version as well as Lightroom, which I've never used. So I'm learning about a new camera and new to me software. Have been lurking on Ugly Hedgehog for a couple weeks. Here's a look at the fourth or fifth photo I took with the 77D. (35-135 zoom lens)

Very cool. But use the SAVE ORIGINAL next time so we can see the full quality of your image.

Welcome to the "wonderful world of photography". I've been shooting since about 1972 and I've never looked back! The one thing that you DEFINITELY need is a good portfolio of all of your best shots. You can really get ahead if prospective clients know that who they're going to be dealing with can provide them with quality images. I have several programs that I use to "tweak" my images if need be, and to keep all in order. That's all for now but there is so much stuff to know about and learn. If you would like to pick my brain - or anyone else's for that matter here on UHH - have at it. I'm more than happy to pass along any helpful tips. In fact, I'll bet that you'll hear from lots and lots of folks. Listen to us all because we know.

Okay.

I'm adding (store original) to the image file. It will look more interesting, I think, when you look at that. It's also the first image I've edited with Lightroom Classic.

I also use my iPhone for unexpected photo opportunities. It took the place of my first generation EOS Rebel and a couple of pocket Panasonics.
