Right now, it seems as though all camera manufacturers are coming out with some really good compact and/or bridge cameras. When it comes to Fuji, does anyone on UHH have experience with the X100 or X10? How about the HS30 or the X-S1? What are your impressions as measured against other similar cameras? If you could include photos that demonstrate your satisfaction, that would be great. Thanks, UHH'ers!

I don't have any experience with the brand new Fuji cameras but I do own an older model Fuji and love it. You can't go wrong.

photo guy,
Thanks for responding. Which Fuji did you have? I have owned a Fuji S200EXR, a great camera that was built like a tank and, quite frankly, put out some VERY good photos. Here are 3 I took with it:

I currently use the Fuji S1500 10mp w/ 12x optical and love it. A lot of the photos I have posted here on the site were taken with it.

Hi I have a Fuji X100 which is a lovely camera but very

idiosyncratic, the menu seems to have a mind of it's own,but

nice sharp lens and definately a talking point when out and

about=I get asked if it's an old camera!

I just purchased Fuji HS25 instead of the HS30. I like the AA battery feature, no GPS, don't need RAW, and the overall the feel is better in my hand. I am not a pro nor a purist so the photos thus far are excellent. Sample photos in reviews for both the HS25 and the HS30 were acceptable as well.

I tend to listen to user reviews more than professional reviewers who seem too detailed and often way too hung-up on perfection. The HS25, in its early use for me, is about right. The cost is also reasonable.

I was interested in waiting for the new Lumix FZ60 with a better lens but the use of AA batteries and longer zoom won the day.

I have a Fuji S1600 and Love it. Has 15X Zoom and as somebody else mentioned the AA bats are a great feature.
I take it everywhere I go. Sometimes you don't want to carry all the heavy gear. Attached is a pic of a dragonfly that landed on my knee. Great little camera.

I love my Fuji x100 buy its definitely a quirky camera that has a pretty steep learning curve. If you are used to using a zoom you might be frustrated. It's slow to focus but the pictures are terrific especially in low light. You will get a lot of envious looks from folks who think you're using a Leica. Other benefits are that it's light weight and compact but the menu can be frustrating to use if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. I carry it almost everywhere. Factor in the lack of zoom means you'll
need to use it like any other fixed lens camera - moving in close to get the shot.

First, I would suggest you read Ken Rockwells report; it's a pretty accurate discription. I used a Contax G2 system for years along with my Nikon F6 and I have to say the Fuji is a splendid camera in terms of exposure, professional features etc. It's like a digital, but not quite as well made, Contax but smaller and lighter. Probably the main draw back for many is the fixed focus lens ie 35mm equivalent, but which suits my style for most things I do. I highly recommend it and would say it's closer to being a Leica rather than the other point and shoot cameras you are looking at.

I love my old Fuji S7000 bridge camera.. Before I got my first DSLR I used it for ages and the results were excellent both out and about and in the studio....At a recent wedding my wife took it to shoot the candids whilst I did the more formal ones with my Pentax Kx. The results from the Fuji were as good.. and in some cases better than those from the Pentax. The major drawback to not using the Fuji more is the "shutter lag" and it's 6mp resolution.

For big zoom camera...went from an HS10 which was a fine camera that take's great photo's....but at the long end will not keep up with the Nikon P510 even with a Tcon 1.7x which is 51x zoom.... i'll take the nikon any day....why?....finer detail, less blur, and a lot lot more sharp consistent picture's...as not even raw can get rid of blur....oh and no tripod.

Yes it is as sharp as they say.... from wide to long end!
