16-50 Kit Lens

Walked with my A6300 in the local forest preserve. I came across a Garter Snake sunning itself. I set the camera to macro and took a few.

Recently I watch a YouTube review on the lens. The young reviewer said this was a horrible lens...Sony's worst. I hope he didn't quit his day job.

Well, about all I can say is if this is Sony's worse lens, then their best must be awesome.

Because of that “horrible” lens, I was able to see that a snake’s forked tongue closer than I think I ever have.

Thank you!

Very nice capture. A clear example of 'the man behind the lens is more important than the lens itself.' The 16-50 is a very capable lens. I keep one on one of my A6000's all the time. Perfect lens for a walk in the woods.

Nice shots. I got the 16-50 as a kit lens with my A6000. I was thrilled with it until I watched a negative review on YouTube and ended up casting it aside. I recently 'rediscovered' it and now it is my favorite lens for just walking around when I want something I can slip into a jacket pocket. Inexpensive, small, light, power zoom with OSS - the little thing is a marvel of engineering.

Looks great to me Joe, as the old saying goes "A lazy man always blames his tools". I have never had a bad kit lens.

The reviewer was likely using an editor that doesn't apply the in camera corrections automatically, or he chose not to apply them.
