Thanks debbyg, the 1st and 3rd were shot in a parking lot in Wilsonville, OR back in '06 when I was still working for a living. As you can see I wasn't working all the time.

So what is the moral of this story?

In the hands of someone skilled, a P&S ROCKS!!!

I looked through all my P&S shots--Dimage Z10--and could find nothing to compare to your images. But I still want to play....

One thing I realized is that I'm a sell-out. I can do better now than I could back then, but I think I like the lighting(or lack of) better back in my P&S days.

I like the B&W shot of a person with a child on his shoulders looking out a window. Makes you want to know where it is and what they're looking at.

That happy little girl is great, too.

I've read in another thread today (and yesterday) discussion and photo-examples of photography done with a Point and Shoot.
That got me reflecting on my photographic progress within the last year... how far I've come.

It got me thinking about the limitations of DSLR's and needing special lenses to do what I did with that little P&S pretty well. (If I had known about setting the resolution and other tricks, they might have rivaled some of the DSLR shots I've done!)

Anyway, If it were not for finding this very forum, Ugly Hedgehog, and the wonderful people I've met here... I would not have progressed at all. I want to thank everyone who contributes to this forum... be it discussion, inspiration, questions, sharing of work, critiques... and a select few who went well beyond that to help ME specifically by gifting software, equipment, accessories and most of all... their knowledge and expertise.

Thank you!

The following are some shots done with my Canon A-550 no more than a few months before coming here to Ugly. This was the caliber of photography I was doing at the time (and even submitted a few to a local photography contest and show... I'm embarrassed now! lol).

I am opening the thread for others to share their P&S shots. NO DSLR or fancy film camera stuff please.

My intent is to show that sometimes, it's not the weapon you wield, it's the skill with which you wield it!

I expect some great stuff, honestly. :)

Nice shots Tilde, thanks for opening this thread.
Here are some I've taken over the past few years with a Canon A720IS camera. I'm sorry if I got a little carried away with the quantity.

I love that single maple leaf with drops of water on it on a background of wet pebbles.

Everything I have seen of yours have been exceptional, and these are NO exception to that!! Your eye is only enhanced by the equipment you are using, but obviously know how to use what you have to capture what you see!!
LOVE these pics!!

BEAUTIFUL!!! Another great example that with the right "eye" behind the camera, most any camera is capable of some GREAT results!! Very beautiful set, and nothing to be ashamed of !!

The picture needed the ".JPG" extension for it to show up. Add that when you download and save and you will be able to see a beautiful picture!

Very well put - "ditto"...I am also out of P mode most of the time now...and using "M" yeah...I have had my DSLR camera for a year and a 1/2 now..it took me most of that first year before I had courage enough to take the plunge so to speak. Some days I feel like a sponge...and love the "light bulb" moments.

And here I thought the "P" mode was for Professional!! LOL!! (Read that one somewhere).
I don't use full auto much, but do use the "P" mode as it gives easy access on most cameras to a lot of controls.
