For some reason, in my previous post I attributed DrNikon's photos to you. Perhaps, knowing you are a Brit, I thought you were a drinking buddy with Harry, based on the photos being so up close! (That wasn't your pasty-white butt trying to hide from the cameras in the 'Vegas photos, was it?). Anyway, my mistake. Just as an aside, I never even considered that anyone would take pictures off a TV (if that's what these were) and post them without making it clear where they came from.
For some reason, in my previous post I attributed ... (show quote)

They do look like they came from TV or from a screen capture of a streamed version of the event.

And yes I'm a Brit, but no, that wasn't my 'pasty-white butt' in the Vegas pictures when Harry got caught playing strip pool and displaying 'the crown jewels'.

I do think he did a good job of responding when he said, "It was just too much army and not enough prince!"

Take care

That episode made Harry far more interesting and relateable, IMO. A big improvement over his father's wish to be a feminine hygiene product. Would have loved to have seen the Queen's reaction when she heard that one!

Quite. There is theory that the Queen wants to outlive Charles so that he won't succeed to the crown.

Harry has earned much respect for his military service, as have other British princes. How many of our US politicians require that their offspring go into front line combat situations?

At least these guys mostly lead from the front, otherwise how can you expect people to follow.

We've had plenty of politicians who served in the military and in combat who turned out to be duds, or worse, and I don't doubt that Brit politicians, just like their US counterparts, have used their influence to shield their offspring from the dangers of combat. I don't consider military service, or even combat experience, to be the definitive indicator of a person's character. Adolf, Mao, and Fidel all had considerable combat experience. We all know what happened there. Reagan had none and was instrumental in bringing down the Soviet Union.

I'm not trying to demean US politicians, I may not always agree with Senator McCain, but he is a man of integrity and honor. He seems like a man one can trust. He is certainly not a dud.

I'm simply talking about putting skin in the game. Your children. It is required of British princes, whether there is an active war or not. They are expected to be on the front line and to be on active duty.
Harry took a role in Afghanistan, Andrew in the Falklands, Prince Phillip in World War II, Louis Mountbatten in two world wars.

Who are you going to follow?

They earn their respect, and put their lives on the line.

While military experience can provide leadership experience, which I am guessing is the basis of the requirement for British princes, it doesn't necessarily change the character of a person. I served in combat. 18 mo in 'Nam. With officers and enlisted, some of whom I considered it an honor to serve with, and others I wouldn't want to be seen on the same side of the street with.
I wouldn't follow anyone just because they have military service, even combat experience, on their resume.

An excellent point. Sometimes you just roll a grenade into their tent.

That said, many but not all, of the royals have earned the respect of their comrades. Putting your children out there is the first part. How they perform is the next. It's called commitment.

When thinking about ham and eggs, the chicken is involved, the pig is committed!

A moot point for me anyway. I don't tend to follow anyone. I prefer to find my own way. Results have been mixed!
The ham and eggs quote is a good one. First heard it from Junior Johnson in an article on him. Don't know if he originated it or not.

Perhaps it's in need of a service!
