Forgot to note that the "senior paddleboarder" shot has so much visual interest. Do you see him often?

Yes Dave, that senior is a "local" there at the Huntington Beach Pier. By looking at him you would not think he was a good surfer but looks can be deceiving !

Number two is magnificent, color, light, movement, and more. The others make me ask; is surfing a synonym for gravity denier?

Thanks so much frjack for appreciating the number two photo. I love the horizontal lines going on in that photo. I consider it an "art" form.
Now to answer your question about "gravity denier"...........not sure on a synonym but the surfers generate so much speed and inertia that they can launch themselves very high up in the air and do some amazing things. The beauty of photography is that you can freeze the surfer and that frozen brief moment can be almost unbelievable!

Joe, I can tell you love to surf even though it's been a while! You and I are different though, I love the color yellow! It takes all kinds eh?!?!?!

Yup...when I moved to the Sierra, I traded in my surfboards for those two smaller sticks called snow skis! Luckily I did, I met my wife skiing! I missed surfing for a long time, and even went back down to Newport to show my kids how to surf. They weren't interested, skiing was more fun to them, so....the boards are stored in my attic, and the closest I get to the sport now-a-days, is the memorials for friends who have left us. I try and make them, but my group of old surfing friends, gets smaller and smaller.

So, it was a pleasant surprise to see your series, as it brought back a flood of memories. One big difference between then and now? The women surfers didn't wear wet suits then, only very tiny bikinis! As a young man, I *did* enjoy that!

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! (You *are* free to upload any more. Specially the ones showing the after-surfing day campfires where we fried up abalone on big steel plates, drinking beer we bought with the money we got from selling the cleaned ab shells to tourists up on old Hiway 101 )

I can see why these are favorites. It would be hard to choose one, but I just love the second to last.

Absolutely. I must be slipping because I should have added that to my original remarks.

Awesome work Brent!! I believe I know the surfer in photo #3, pretty sure I judged her in a contest on "The Other Coast". Very well done indeed.
