1st shot is a 2 shot stack, good but not as good as the single frame shot. Cannot see the hairs on the fly's body.
so I tried
a 6 shot stack (a miracle the fly and the flowers were still long enough), almost as good as the single frame one the hairs show here.
5DIV with Canon 100 macro, hand held - tried tripod but could not get a good angle so I slipped the QR off the head and used the tripod as a brace to lean on while shooting.
2 shot stack - took 6 frames but 4 were rejects due to wind

Jerry, fantastic photos and they are both tack sharp.

Beautiful shots, Jerry, and very colorful flies!

Thank you.
I really wish I could get rid of them. They inject eggs into caterpillars and as a result I get a low Monarch reproduction rate in my yard. Even though I see several laying eggs everyday.

I can see why getting rid of them would be a problem, because whatever you use might harm the 'good' bugs as well...
Beautifully done, Robert!
