My wife and I just completed a journey last month and one of the places we visited was Snow Canyon State Park near Ivins, Utah, which is northwest of Saint George. We found out about this little gem when we were camping in Cortez, Colorado. The drive from Cortez to Snow Canyon was pretty, but long and we were happy to finally make it to Snow Canyon, just before nightfall.
Unfortunately for us, the park was full but the attendant in the park kiosk told us of some BLM camping areas to the north. She also told us to try and arrive early the next morning if we wanted to get a campsite.
Well, to make a long story short, the BLM camping was nice and we did get a site the next morning.
I have to say; Utah is not only a beautiful state, it seems that the people who are entrusted with taking care of the places where we visited went the extra mile and we were impressed...not only with the amenities, but with the way places were presented and represented.
Just one of the many sites along some of the walking trails.

Looking towards Johnson Canyon, which is usually closed throughout the summer months because of bird nesting issues.

One of the many hiking trails. Some of them allow dogs on leashes, which was a great issue with us when deciding which place to visit. I never realized how dog unfriendly some of the National Parks can be, but I'm sure they have their reasons.

Graffiti from early pioneers is located on a rock face in the park. They appear to have been touched up some and somehow I think Dave and Roberta (to the right) were later additions to the names.

We went to a ghost town called Silver Reef in Leeds to the north off I-15. The town isn't really a ghost town, but a visit to the museum there was enjoyable. When I say it wasn't a ghost town, it's because there's a subdivision built all around it.

The cacti were blooming along parts of the trails and they added some pretty color to the scenery.

A cool looking Joshua tree near the ranger station. They have to be one of the most interesting trees I've ever seen.

I never would have expected to see moss in a place like this.

Nice pics. If you ever get down to Snow Canyon again check out the petroglyphs, they are in some great rock formations, it's a really neat area to spend a half day. easy to get to but a little difficult to find because they are only on a few maps. We were there a couple months ago and had a lot of fun in the area.
Great set, and congrats on your 25th!
Nice variety of images...very good set.
Nice photos of what looks like an interesting place to visit.
Too bad you've not been to Phoenix. NW of the city along the road to LV there's the Joshua State Part where, you guessed it, there are thousands of these trees. Yes they are beautiful and you've got a very nice shot of one of them.
We were there the last week of February, and it’s sure a neat place! The museum in Silver Reef was a good one, and a conversation with one of the volunteers got us a personally guided tour! We also visited the ghost town of Grafton, where scenes from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid movie were filmed.
Enjoyed seeing your photos!
