No one makes Zimmerman out to be a hero, in fact he is a flaming asshole. But, he was not guilty of murdering Martin, the jury got it right no matter what you may think.

Zimmerman told the dispatcher that Martin was running away and Zimmerman was pursuing Martin. The dispatcher told Zimmerman "you don't need to do that, sir". Martin had not committed any crime to Zimmerman's knowledge, but he pursued him with a gun. Do you really blame Martin for fighting with an older, heavier, stronger man pursuing him with a gun after attempting to flee by Zimmerman's admission?
