I have been using Paintshop Pro4 to do my HDR images recently. Today I wanted to know how it compared to Photomatix, so I downloaded their trial offer. These are the same series of images done in both programs, I think I'm going to consider changing over to Photomatix, so what do you think?

Thanks Doe, I revisited Paintshop Pro4 and did Tone Mapping.

Did you use the separate tone mapping in Paintshop Pro? Photomatix is a good program. I have had the trial for quite some time. I also have Elements 10 and all the Topaz plug-ins. I can't remember what program can do what things....driving me nuts! I use Topaz Adjust and Topaz DeNoise
the most' the options seem to be endless. I am surprised that you didn't get more pazaz out of Paintshop. It didn't seem to do much at all to the photo. If you get Photomatix, would you mind letting me know what it costs?
Thanks Doe, as I once said, I am still learning, and did not know about that option in Paintshop Pro4. This is why I started this Forum, so we could all learn, and help each other.

I don't know anything about Photomatix as I have used NIK HDR EFlex Pro for several years now and like it. I think when I chose it I I tried Photomatix and didn't like it. I would suggest you taking a look at NIK software also. They also have a noise eliminating program that I am very happy with.
The new version of Photoshop CS6 has an upgraded version of their old HDR program. It works well for aligning the photos but doesn't have a tonemapping application. Corel's program is on I use for their special applications and edits. I also use parts of OnOne Software's complete program. If you have questions, let me know.
Swede.
Thanks for the information. I looked at the program you suggested, but I do not have PhotoShop CS or Lightroom. I'm a little low on budget, so keep doing what I do with what I have.

I like the results in photo 2 as far as HDR goes. Photo one could be more appealing to me if it had more sharpness.

Have you ever tried picturenaut? It's a free dowload and seems to work fairly well.
