The crest on his head looks like a bit of a Cardinal family, but they don't show up too often up North.

It appears to be a leucistic cardinal. Leucism, or leukism, is an abnormal plumage condition caused by a genetic mutation that prevents pigment, particularly melanin, from being properly deposited on a bird's feathers. Fairly rare, but happens occasionally.

The bird appears to be a Summer Tanager in the process of converting to breeding plumage. The birds are normally native to the southern US (the old CSA). Birds to wander however. Last Summer I saw several Black Hawks in western PA

Scarlet Tanger I believe- either molting or juvenile - had one like that in Sarasota a few years ago. One similar this year.

No black on the wing. summer tanager not scarlet.
A stunning shot! It does look like the 1st Spring Tanager examples, but it has a dark band on the tip of the tail that we don't see on the examples.
