BOY scouts.BOYS learning to grow in to men .Nothing wrong with tradition. If there are young ladies who don't like Girl Scouts ? Start a troop for the more adventurous female .
[IMHO-
HHmmmmm... So many women criticize the men - like above - but look what they've done to their own organization.
Now I'll get off my soap box.
Maybe be a good idea to add a condom chapter to the Boy Scouts Handbook.[/quote]
Unfortunately true.

I don't think this would be an issue if the Girl Scouts would offer things that are offered by the Boy Scouts. The Girls Scouts probably are behind the times. I would also be hesitant to allow my daughter to join since the Boy Scouts now allow gay leaders.
That was the beginning of the end for the BSA. Since they succumbed to the LGBT group, many parents took their boys out of the scouts. That decision also led to less membership.

Some girls aren't into that feminazi crap. They'd rather camp and hike and enjoy the outdoors. A lot of women like to camp and hike.
This may just be the recruiting tool the Boy Scouts need. After all, wasn't it a little nerdy?
I have never thought of the Boy Scouts as nerdy. A scout learned a lot of valuable life skills besides camping and hiking. Merit badges helped a scout get a feel for many types of hobbies, activities and types of jobs they may like.
Wow, so many (-) comments. In my opinion (please don't throw tomatoes at me), major issues for the girls in Scouting (#1) when they reached their highest rank/award in Girlscout known as the Gold Award. For Venture Scout(boys & girls >14 years of age) known as Silver Award. The general public is not aware or knows its meaning/value. If one mention "Eagle Scout" from BSA then the general public knows more of/heard of. (#2) Families have sibling. 1 in BSA & 1 in GScout. Can be difficult for the families. (#3) BSA program will shape/re-shape our youth into a future leader in more details then the Girlscouts program. For an example >Trial to Eagle, one has to advance 7 ranks, completed 21 merit badges out of 137 merit badges (13 mb are Eagle required - Camping, Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the World, Communications, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness or Lifesaving, Environmental Science or Sustainability, Family Life, First Aid, Personal Fitness, Personal Management, Swimming, Hiking or Cycling); in addition an Eagle Project for his community. Plus, 16 months of Leadership within his Troop. One has to complete this before turn 18 years of age. (#4) BSA programs offered much fun stuff at an early age of 10 years old(arrow of light cross from cubscout) or at 11 years of age (new scout) - rifle, shotgun, climbing, hiking, fishing, biking, boating, wwrafting, jet ski, now ATV, etc........ vs Girlscout. They introduce a few of this at way later stage. Right now, the girls can join cubscouts but they will have separate den (male den & female den). BSA will be next year in 2019, with separate troop (male troop & female troop). The rest of the world already have this in place. I know it's a shocker to all of us. Yes, there is some (+) and (-) in this migration. In the end, our youth need us to help, to guide, to lead them to a better future. Without us, they are doom. Remember, they are the innocent one. Thanks for the forum.

Kenshu,
So far you've made the most sense about this stupid liberal wack job idea.

I agree, my troop could hardly be called nerdy. We had farm and ranch kids, athletes and such. Several of us joined the military and I believe all went into combat arms specialities.

How can you object to the Boy Scouts having gay leaders when you’re a “Collie lover?”
Change the Girl Scouts .Update the goals and training .Why interfere with a long tradition of a proven system that allows boys to be around boys who want to learn with other boys.? There must be female leaders out there willing to update the Girl Scouts to a more progressive standard. If that is what is actually needed?

The stated goal by all democrats is to destroy masculinity in America.
This is the next step.
They have been openly attacking the Boy Scouts for at least a decade now.
One of the largest supporters of Boy Scouts has left it.
This was a year ago, I will bet they now completely abandon the Scouts.

You have taught me a few things I was not aware of about mixed scouting. I never knew it was common in the rest of the world. I think separate patrols and troops are a good blend. I may have been a little to conservative on this matter. My hs alma mater went coed in the 80' s and it has worked out well. I hope the best for the new scouting program.
A four man tent could now be a two boy and two girls. Would you want that for your daughters?
One can check out the upcoming 2019 World Jamboree, this might give us a better ideal of the world in Scouting.
The last time we (USA) hosted the World Jamboree was back in 1967? In 2019, USA will host this event in West Virginia. The host committee will be USA + Mexico + Canada. Expected 167 countries will attend; instead of 150.
