This little guy dropped in yesterday, and he didn't seem too skittish when I came out with the camera.
My book "Birds of Canada" didn't help, nor did a "Google" search for images of "yellow bird with red head". Even Cornell couldn't help.
The crest on his head looks like a bit of a Cardinal family, but they don't show up too often up North.
My Sister in Law is putting it to canvas, and will be asking around also. I hope to ID him soon......
.
Well whoever he is he looks like a gorgeous, bright-eyed bird! Lovely shot!
Whatever the species, you got a great capture!
That is a bit of a mystery. I never seen a yellow/red bird like that in the eastern U.S. Hope someone can come up with an answer.
Its a Cardinal from the 60's. lol ! Sweet Shot !

Could a cardinal and a canary have had an intense affair? (LOL) It looks like either a tropical bird following global warming or, more likely, a mutant cardinal.

Probably some kind of an escapee that was caged at one point. It's probably not a North American bird. Sorry I couldn't help.

It's a new species, the Norther Geezer.
Possibly a juvenile male house finch. A naturally over saturated one.
