Brenda, are you sure of ID? Bug guide shows NONpunctate elytra and orangish legs. Range is southern US. Bill

I am never totally sure of IDs Bill and am always pleased to be corrected as this is massively helpful to me. I spent a long time looking at all the black and orange/red beetles. Some seemed to have the descriptive points you mention and some didn't. I would be interested in your thoughts on the ID. Having knowledgeable entomologists like yourself and a few others is very valuable to our group. Thanks for your interest in helping.

Ha ha, I can well believe it, ID is a nightmare and sometimes the names are then changed. ID is not a favorite part of this hobby to me but I enjoy it in small measures if I get success fairly quickly.
