Most all of these were capture in the same 3 hr period a few days ago. Went back the second day and seen only a handful as compared the day before. Was down in the water tucked up under branches and vines on the far bank. I was able to work along the canal to some degree. Ducks came within 15 to 50 feet from me. I was just amazed of the lighting conditions. A canal that runs east to west and I caught the sun going down which threw the light length wise down the canal. Water colors changed as the sun dropped, all types of reflecting light bouncing around. The ducks moved in and out of the light, sometimes only the ducks caught the light. I just found this spot, I'm hoping I get at least 4 or 5 more good chances at them. It's in a local neighborhood, have already met the police, strange man in canal with camera tends to get the old folks a little excited.. I'm getting up in age, so I'm thinking that helps just a tad........
Please download to enjoy the light.

We appreciate your effort. And then thanks for sharing these beauties.
These are beautiful, Martin!! I've never seen a wood duck in person, but I love their colorful markings. I also love your low perspective....makes these photos great!!
Great shots Martin, it is hard to pick a favourite but the penultimate is definitely in the running. It is interesting to see how the ripples in the water make a repeating reflection of the duck's head in the second shot.
Your down low technique really sets these apart. Also, they are sharp, colorful, and well composed. Great job.
I like the perspective of these shots.
Excellent work and very beautiful birds, Martin!
Martin, these are all some of the best Wood Duck shots I have ever seen. Well done.

I saw my first Wood Duck just a couple of months ago and your photos certainly do this beautiful bird justice! Great shots!
