There's a beautiful double waterfall there called Soco Falls. It's hard to find but close by. There are some photos of it on here. You can find them with the search feature.

I live in Maggie Valley. Might want to check out the elk in Cataloochee Valley, early morning or late afternoon. Lots of wildflowers. Nice sunsets(if there are a few clouds) from Water Rock Knob on Blue Ridge Parkway. Soco Falls is easy to find on Hwy 19 going toward Cherokee. It is marked with small parking area. Trail down is steep. Be careful. Lots of wildflowers in GSMNP now. Wheels Thru Time Museum here. Have a great trip!

A couple of my favorites from that area:
Nice shots! The elk have shed their antlers in March, so they are not quite as majestic right now. But, they are "re-growing" as fast as they can! Lol!

Thank you. You're fortunate to live in such a beautiful area of the country.
God truly blessed me when He plopped me down in this awesome spot!

I LOVE Maggie Valley. SOOOO beautiful and Waynesville close by. There's Lake Junaluska (sp) such a beautiful place for early morning shots with the fog on the water. If you have time, check out the gem mines where you can dig out your own gems if they still do that...ask around, everyone there knows and will point you in the right directions. If the Gem motel is still there, they have some fabulous gems for sale...not very expensive either.
It was a bit disappointing, as the trees were way behind in new growth, few wild flowers and the elk had shed. We did get a sunrise atop clingman's dome.
