A true story

Quaking Aspen Loc: Cottage Grove, OR

Cast of characters:

The turkeys like to clean up around the bird feeder we have in our yard.
The Jays are great mimicers. They especially like to mimic the hawk's cry. They also like to feed on the bird feeder overflow.
The turkeys are hogging the bird seed spillage. A Jay lites in a tree above the bird feeder and issues his best rendition of the hawk's cry. Whereupon the turkeys beat a hasty retreat and take refuge under our grape arbor.
Then the Jay glides down and enjoys a few uninterrupted minutes of feeding under the bird feeder.

Thanks Bigmike. It's always fun to watch the drama going on in the back yard.

Thanks fotofinish. I guess turkeys are at least smart enough to survive in the evolutionary game, but a couple of them are pushing their luck by getting into our garden.
