The top photo shows an Osprey catching a fish underwater. The bottom photo shows the Osprey lifting the fish out of water.

Hand held at 800mm. Distance was about 125-150 feet. These shots were taken today at Fernan Lake and they restocked the lake
yesterday and two times today.

Both photos: Canon 5Dsr - Canon 400 II DO f4 - Canon 2x III - 1/1000 - f/11 - !SO @ 1000.

#1 is remarkable. I have shots of ospreys catching fish but nothing that tell the story as well as this. I say both shots are worthy of praise and good frames.

I hate it when I am out fly fishing and do not catch anything and the Osprey does !!

Often I do not comment, but every year I look for your posts, you set the bar to which many of us aspire. Thank you and please keep up the great work. I am thinking about the 600 f4 but you are doing such incredible work with the 400 f4 that I pause and ask if I really want a 12 pound lens.

I really like the first shot. Knowing how good they are at fishing, they may want to restock the lake on a weekly basis. They will help weed out the bigger fish so the smaller ones can get bigger.

I appreciate your good comment, Murex. Sometimes the Osprey goes underwater to grasp the fish and it
can be a struggle to lift it out of the water as it was in this situation.

The 600mm f4 is a great lens, but you must support it with a tripod. My Canon II DO f4 prime lens weighs 4.6 lbs and is much shorter than the Canon f4 600mm lens.
So, I can walk around getting some good shots and not have to be tied down to a tripod. But, to each his own. Below is a picture of my photo equipment.
Thank you very much, unlucky2.

Thank you very much, Matsuo. This lake was stocked with fish yesterday and today.
