Well based on it being one of the rarest visitors to my yard and that it often comes when it is too dark to photograph,
the coolest visitor to my yard is the great horned owl. However I love almost all the birds that come to my yard, from the Sharp-shinned and Cooper's hawks to the colorful Anna's hummingbirds and Western bluebirds and Northern flicker to the California quail and House finch and scrub jays. My least favorite by far are the crows!

Not many birds in my yard. Mockingbirds, mourning doves, common sparrows, and house finch. There are crows across the street. Used to see Black chinned Hummers before I stopped feeding.

Thanks Bronco Maniac! Photographing my backyard visitors is one of my favorite hobbies. We are very lucky in California to have lots of visiting birds though never saw a pileated woodpecker in the backyard.

Shot all these in my yard except the turkey. I have had turkeys in my yard but not that one.

We tend to lean toward our woodpeckers as the favorite, but the best catch so far was a pair of crested caracaras that I managed to catch on a fly-by. We are up to 21 species in our backyard so far this year.

They ARE a sight to behold. I used to open the kitchen window where my nectar feeder was hung and hummingbirds would fly about my kitchen a bit before heading back to drink.

I lived on a farm for a few years and hummingbirds would come to the giant mimosa trees by the dozens. I'd sit on the front porch with binoculars and watch their antics.
