This is the only parasitic bird in Illinois. Lays its eggs in another bird's nest leaving the bird to raise its young.

Very nice picture but are you sure it's a cowbird? The picture in my Sibley shows the juvenile as a much more golden color with a light colored beak.
So does the cuckoo lay its' eggs in other birds nests
A couple of years ago, we watched this pair of sparrows feeding their baby. He was bigger than they where and running them ragged demanding food. If they tried to get away he flew right after them. Great shot of an adult. Always wonder how they know they are cow birds and to lay eggs in other nests.
