I was shooting this ship as it approached from about 1/2 mile with Canon 5dm4, 100-300 tele. When it turned broadside and started dropping sails It was too close for me to get in the frame. I tipped portrait style and shot a 6-frame pano. Had a couple glitches but got it all.
Good. Never saw banding like that thought. What caused it? Any idea?

Aye, there she were, lying almost becalmed just a wee bit afore me beam when she showed me her broadside and commenced to drop her canvas!! The day straightaway became promising.
Nicely done!
Didn't do much sharpen. Some defog and mild vignette.

I think it is rather good!
I like it and wish I was there. The banding in the sky is weird. However since there is nothing else in the sky, a blur type tool can fix it fairly easily. I would prefer a different position with respect to the sun, because it washes out the water spray and makes the dark hull look too monotone. It is a bummer when the ship more than filled the frame and the movement caused stitch issue on a multiple shot photo.
