Last night was a WOOHOO moment

I had everything going for testing and it would've been a awesome night if the clouds wouldn't of been there. I've made successful progress , I was on my own last night and it was a success. I've got a long way to go but, I'm moving in the right direction now with Sgp. The balancing of the load is really hard for me to accomplish with one hand and Alanna and I just argue about which way to turn this and push that , it's quite a comedy.

Can't comment on SPG, I don't use it.
How are you breaking down your telescope from your mount that it needs rebalancing every time?
I break mine down at the Vixen Bar, and clamp. So my telescope stays attached to my Vixen Bar at all times. My AVX uses these bare ended clamp screws that dented my solid aluminum Vixen bar. So when I found balance, I was able to drill dimples in the bar where the dents were. Now, all I do is engage the screws into the dimples (detents) and the telescope is at the same balance point as the last time it was mounted.
Balance is a mechanical relation with the telescope to the mount. As long as the two mate up at the same place from night to night the balance should be good enough. Mine is actually a little tail heavy.

I move my mount all around the property to get in the holes through the trees. I'm not blessed with a clear view of too much, the only exception is 45 degrees to zenith in the NE and SW . I've got to do what I can to get time to capture without running in a tree. It's a tear down every couple of nights but, I'm learning to accept the way things are , though it's a pita Sonny .

Well, the balance relationship of the telescope to mount should remain the same from move to move.
But I can see how Polar alignment would be a real challenging PITA.

I basically tried here, tried there, and settled into a spot. It gives me my best sky advantage for my yard. When the two Palm Trees we had, that were also two of my biggest obstructions, became too expensive to maintain, we removed them. More sky, no cry.

When I've been away from home, which has been rare, I resort to finding Polaris with the Big Dipper. And that is often a bit iffy. Then doing my routine.
It has worked fine for me. If there was anything I'd buy at this point for my equipment, it would be the Star Sense Auto Align. Because I got a taste of it, and I liked it!

Sonny, I'm getting in my grove of using Sgp. It's trying to get that darn tube rotated in the rings just right and getting it marked . I thought I had it the other night but, that's why I test every change I make, I'm confident that I'll get it resolved. It all started when adding the new camera , efw 5 mini and TV Paracorr t2 lens ass. and it sticks out a good bit from the focuser . The wind has been killing me and testing is here and there, this year is being a real pita and I hope it settles down before the scorch hits. Once I get it all marked , balanced and tested it'll be "Miller time" !

Sonny, I'm getting in my grove of using Sgp. It's ... (show quote)

I find Ah-Ha! moments almost every night.
I use Celestron's All Star Polar Alignment to dial in my Polar alignment. It's a last step before the evening's imaging.
I tend to concentrate on a single subject for the evening, unless it gets too boring. Then I'll hop around.
But I leave my mount in the one spot all the time.

Lucky Sonny, that would be the icing on my cake . I'd love to have a 360 degree view but, that's wishful thinking. One day I'll have an observatory and that will be the end to all this tear down put back up stuff. I ran a sequence last night without guiding and 50% of all the subs were graded 80% or better" That's alright ! in my book" my focus was out on the green channel so , I'll be shooting those again tonight with another sequence.

Super!
Oh, I'm far from a 360° view.
I have wires and power poles, light pollution to dawn proportions, houses, condos, and neighbors trees....
I just shoot through or around them. Gotta do the best we can with what we have.

We do have to overcome a lot of obstacles , that's half the fun of trying to catch something within the holes that get smaller in the Spring. I'm having to deal with extreme pollen and weather that just won't cooperate.
