Photo tips for southern Spain

My wife and I were in southern Spain twice. First trip last May (2017) was aborted when she broke her foot. We went back this year in January with more success. This was part of a tour group visiting Spain and Morocco.
May is a wonderful time to be in Spain. Weather moderate; crowds not too bad; everything in bloom; lots of color. All the places mentioned are good.

We spent a week (May 2017) in Seville (waiting for the insurance company to get us home) while the group went on to Morocco. Consequently I had a lot of time to wander around the town taking pictures- one camera and one lens. Lots of street life. Never felt unsafe (I wasn't out late at night other than to eat). I found the modern/ancient contrast fascinating. Gibraltar is worth visiting. Go around 6 pm and you can watch the daily flight for London take off on a short runway. (You walk across the runway to get to the town.) We actually ended up taking a helicopter across the straits to Morocco because the seas were to high for the ferry.

Traveling to Cordoba, Granada, Ronda (sp?), Seville, Jerez, Costa del Sol, end of April through May. Any tips on must have photo's, shooting locations, etc, from these areas would be appreciated

In Granada, you must photograph the Alhambra. Plan on spending the better part of a day.

Seville is a city where there are pictures everywhere you look. The city is overloaded with parks, towers, historic palaces and other attractions. Be sure and tour the Alcazar Palace. Have fun in Spain and bring back some great photographs.

I visited Spain in 2015. You may find some ideas from looking at my photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/8712554@N02/collections/72157667440330363/. I'll be going back this summer (and to Portugal) with members of my church choir. More pictures!

Next to The Alhambra there is a spectacular garden called Generalife, if you like flowers you will be pleased.
I spent over 8 hours in both places and could not see everything.

Costa del Sol has many towns by the sea that offers lots of OPs, Marbella is a beautiful town with a marina full of high class boats. Sometimes they have exhibition of classic cars. If you can, go to Jerez de la Frontera (no to far from Ronda which is a must), there they have famous wineries and brandy makers. They have guided tours, however there is only one open during the weekends.

May is the best time of the year to go to Spain because summers are very hot. Spain is beautiful and the food is superb.

Enjoy your trip.

Augie
