Does anyone know if I can download the new version to use with my Canon 7D. The new version DPP4 does not support the 7d. Will the program work if I say that I have a Mk2 version
The v4 software now works with the RAW files from all EOS bodies that create CR2 files. One (or a few) very early EOS DSLRs created misnamed TIF files that cannot be processed by DPP4, a situation that does not apply to your 7D.
So yes, you can download the latest version of DPP4 and it will process your 7D RAW. Not sure where you received the incorrect info. Follow the 'support' link off the Canon site and then find drivers and downloads. You'll be prompted for a serial number when you get to the point of downloading the software. Any valid EOS body will satisfy the serial number requirement.
I was looking for some daffodil images and processed an old 7D file this morning.

I've got V4 but still keep V3 on my m/c. Maybe it's because I'm a slow learner but I find V3 much easier to use for quick edits.

It will work fine with the 7D or the 7D Mark II and has for the last couple of years at least. Surprised you're having problems. How old is the version you have? You should always download the most current version. It's painless.

The version 4 interface besides having more sophisticated tools, is constructed to resemble most other post processing programs from third-party vendors.

I occasionally have a go at it, perhaps I need to go at it more regularly.
