I envy you. I am afraid to buy refurb. I am waiting for Xmas to get another new D7200. I have enough back up presently with one D300, and two D200. I am safe with my D7200 until then. The jobs are coming in. My images are all enhanced in Lighrtoom and Nik software. Congratulations!
My work is real estate, weddings, mitzvahs, family portraiture, and head shots. I have fabulous studio lighting that I have acquired over 30 years.
My experience with refurbished has been excellent. My D7200 came with 15 clicks on the shutter, and you could not tell the difference from new. Some say refurbished may be better since they get a complete QC check by Nikon technicians and include all of the pieces included with brand new bodies. Not very new Nikon goes through as extensive a QC check. If you purchase from Cameta, they give you an additional 9 mos of warranty on top of Nikon’s 90 days. Other authorized Nikon dealers will be able to sell you an extended warranty relatively inexpensively if you are really worried about something going wrong. Using the camera will probably tell you if you are going to have problems within the first 90 days. For me the real key is that they have been refurbished by Nikon and not the vendor. This also assures that you are getting a USA model. For me, factory refurbished save me money to spend elsewhere. If you are not comfortable with refurbished, that is OK too. Some think refurbished means it was defective, needing repair, and often that is not the case. Many are returns by customers who did not like them, some are floor samples, and yes, some are returned because they were defective right out of the box. Regardless of which way you go, the D7200 is a great body.
