I am presently using a D7000 Dx Nikon. I am considering moving to a D750 Fx camera.
I am interested in your thoughts.
Thanks,
Bob (Ace)

Standard question of "why?"

Going to FF may require getting new lenses, which is pricey. I think the 750 is a great camera. Compared to the D7200: it does low light a solid stop better, low light AF is better, AF is slightly better and obviously no crop factor. One great thing is that they both have pretty much the same ergonomics and button placement. I still use both at events. I think the 7200 has about a half to a third stop better low light performance and a much better buffer.

When I bought the D7000 I didn't really know much about the difference between DX and FX but quickly got up to speed and started buying FX lenses. When I decided to upgrade I debated between the D750 and the D810. I decided on the 750 and I really do enjoy the camera when I get to use it. If I had purchased a lot of DX lenses and were looking to upgrade to a new DX I think I would look at the D500.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion so good luck making a decision.

I've been thinking about a D750 as well. It should be a big step up from my 7200 for starscape photography, which I've been doing for a while. My big trepidation is that the 750 is three years old and a week after I get one, Nikon will announce the D760 or some such. Part of me wants to wait for the latest technology, and part of me wants to just order one.

Good Luck!

I have a D7000 and a D750, the d7000 is still a good camera, but if I am shooting in low light or shooting birds or wildlife that will require cropping, the D750 is my go to camera, it handles noise very well and I don't worry about shooting at 4,000 or 5,000 iso. But, the D750 with a battery pack and a Tamron 150-600 G2 lens gets pretty heavy after several hours of shooting birds, so, last year I made the leap to the M43 system and went to the Olympus EM1 Mark ll and now this is my go to camera for just about everything unless it is low light when I still go to the D750.

I used to have a D90, D7000, D7100, D800 and D750. D750 is my favorite out of the bunch.

I love my D750. Some good advice was given above. If you have very many DX lenses that might be a compelling reason to stick with the DX format unless another reason is driving you to the FX format. I chose FX because it matched my Nikon film cameras and I didn't have to think about what a 24mm or a 50mm or whatever lens would do. I already knew without having to think about it. I also liked being able to crop and still have an image that I could print. You probably know that FX lenses are more expensive than DX lenses. As for the camera, I love it's low light abilities. I love taking night shots or indoor shots with low light where flash isn't allowed. I get great shots at high ISO with very little or acceptable noise. I like that I can shoot jpeg and RAW at the same time and save one to memory card 1 and the other to memory card 2. I love the flexibility of this camera and how the menu let's me set this camera up to suit MY needs and preferences.

Wharever Nikon you choose, be sure to get Steve Perry's ebook on the Nikon AutoFocus System. In addition to explaining the system he gives lots of tips on configuring your camera so that it works best for you.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

I have D7000, D500 and D750. I am definitely an amateur but DX and FX have their place. Keep the 7000 and get the 750. Grow your glass over time. It’s just gonna be more fun.

I use a D750. It is my favorite digital camera. I pair it with a D7200 for wildlife, also an excellent camera.

I might consider FF for use of wide angle lenses. Landscape shots. But the D500 is about the same price and compelling for low light and action. If I did not already have the D7200 I would get that. I got the D750 in part to use legacy Nikon glass and shoot with my F2S film Nikon.

I would not worry too much about a new model. If the D750 has the specs you need you should be very happy with it.
