Not my most used lens, but the one I look for excuses to use, my Olympus 150mm f2 followed closely by my Panasonic Leica Summilux D 25mm f1.4 (the original 4/3 mount version, not the newer, cheaper m4/3 version).

Except when going on a particular shoot when I will use a specific lens I walk-around with the 18-300 on my D500 and the 28-300 on my D850

I use the Nikon 18-105 that came with my 7100. Has a perfect range for my use and sharp photo results. I have been looking for another lens but can't find one that I think would be better suited to my use.

My daily walk around on my NIKON 7100, is a Sigma 18-250 It just seems to do it all well and is very sharp for a zoom.

My favorite "walk around" lens is my 1974 35mm Leica Summicron. Very high performance and virtually weightless.

im a Canon owner, so for the rest of the readers I love my 135 mm f/2. I also love the 100 mm macro. For lower light situations, the 50 mm 1.4 is my favorite, but you have to be careful of bokeh, may be more than you want if you use the aperture wide open. Not happy with my 70-200. Why, too soft, too difficult to get a shot without a lot of bokeh. I shoot at baseball games a lot, and rather use my 70-300. Gets better pictures. But I have to admit, the 70-200 is relatively new, so I need to practice. I'm sure it's a great lens.

I'd like to open a discussion about tools of choice. Are there any lenses that you keep going back to because you love the images that you get with it? I could be any kind of lens... a macro, a normal prime, even a walk-around lens. Just say why and maybe post a sample or two.

I was leaning towards macro in the autumn - I use a Tokina 100 f/2.8 for Nikon or a Nikon 60mm Micro, but I really love my broken 50mm f/1.4 that I use for free-lensing. It's not an every day lens, but I always get something interesting out of it so I like to play with it when I am feeling creatively stymied.

All my 11 lenses for my Nikon DSLRs are my favorite lens. I use each for different shooting purpose, I don't have so called "walk around lens"

The metadata of that photo doesn't show any lens information. It looks like an effect a Lensbaby lens might produce.

Hey CO,

The OP mentions free lensing with his broken 50. Just in case you're not familiar with free lensing, it's the act of disconnecting the lens from the camera and moving it around indepentantly of the camera as it's held just in front of the mount opening. So in essence it's like using a lens baby where you can move the point of focus around in your frame and get lots of funky effects from it.

Although it can be very creative and yeild interesting results personally I wouldn't try it on my good gear based on repair or replacement cost but, if one has an old junky camera that still works for capturing an image and you're not too worried about getting crap inside of it, then I say go for it.

Otherwise why not just buy a lens baby system?

Various. It depends on what I'm after. I only have four. Does that mean I can't take perfect pictures of simply EVERYTHING? 😜😜
