Crashed my Mavic Pro

Out in the desert last weekend I was flying low over some of our Jeeps and other 4x4's when I headed toward a slope with a bush on it. I guess my depth of field isn't as good as I thought and it surprised me when my Mavic came crashing down. The bush was only about 5' tall so it only dropped about 5 feet so a soft sandy ground. The legs were all folded up and one of the props wouldn't turn. 2 of the props feld gritty. Took it home and waited 2 days to look at it and blew out the grit, checked for any cracks in the air frame and didn't find any, and the prop that was seized has a piece of plastic from one of the props stuck between the motor and frame. I pried it out and it is smooth as can be now. I started up the motors with the props off and blew all the motors out with canned air. I inspected all the props and found 3 out of 4 damaged so I replaced all 3.

I started and stopped it several times in my backyard but will be flying it at a new site tomorrow with my Buds. It should be fine.

It's fixed. The damage wasn't as bad as I originally thought. Just a piece of propeller got jammed between the frame and motor seizing it up. Dirt in 2 other motors. 3 new props and she's all fixed.

Good to hear it was a fairly minor repair. I've had a problem losing connection (android phone) and mine wandered into a pole at 3', broke one of the forward legs off. Luckily it was only $30 for the leg with motor.
Are you with a Jeep club? I used to go out with a club out of Costa Mesa, canyon crawlers(?) Mainly to Big Bear and Anza Berrego. also ran with inland valley and victor valley 4wheelers.

I've heard of the Inland Valley and Victor Valley 4Wheelers club but I have not heard of the Canyon Crawlers club in Costa Mesa. I live pretty close to Costa Mesa. Are they still around? If so, do you have any website info on them? I'd like to check them out.

I belong to a club down in San Juan Capistrano called the Capo Valley Four Wheelers club. I've been on almost all the runs they do and I'd like to branch out a little. They are getting a little boring. They blaze down a trail and hardly ever stop long enough to take pictures or fly my drone.

It was 10yrs ago when I parked my Jeep. Then moved away. But I can't seem to find them online, tried to contact the only member I have contact info for, and he died last year. I checked the cal4wheel association directory, and they are no longer listed. I guess they are gone! It was a 20yr old club when I started running with them.
Victor Valley was a little too hard core for me, learned allot, but cost allot in repairs :)
Inland empire was a nice , easy going, family orientated group. It was a bit of a drive for me(they meet in Redlands), so I didn't make many meetings.

Ok Berm, thanks for checking for me. I tried with no luck either. Wish there were some closer choices for me too. I've done some of the hard core wheelin' too but don't like risking repairs and not knowing if I am going to be able to drive it home. I did take my Jeep on the Rubicon trail 2 years ago so I know it's very capable but I'd rather just site-see now. I'm not into being jostled around a lot any more. I'm thinking of selling my Jeep now too. I have a truck that is 4x4 (2002 F-150 Supercrew 4x4) and very roomy and I'm sure I can take it on the kind of trails that I like now. It's got too long a wheelbase for the tight turns and forget about rock crawling with it.

Know the feeling! My Main ride is a lifted Grand Cherokee now, Carries an ice chest, drone , camera gear, and sometimes passengers! no hard corer stuff. No hard jostles, and I don't limp after a day on the trail!
