The fighters are Hawker Hurricanes and the bomber is an Avro Lancaster.

Nice photos. Some very courageous men have flown in the Royal Air Force over the years. My own father flew in the USAF.

I'm thinking the two center pictures of photo number 2 are Spitfires based on the shape of the wing tips and the position of the air intake on the Spitfire vs. Hurricane. That's my take on it but I'm more of a P-51, F4U and P-38 person.

Yes, those look like Spitfire wings to me.

And as far as the P-51 Mustang goes, it would not have existed without the Rolls Royce Merlin engine, the same engine as the Spitfire.
