I have the RX100 -V and I think it has only been out about 7-8 months if I remember correctly.

An excellent very easy to carry anywhere camera. I had a RX100 M3 for a couple of years and just decided to sell it and buy the newer RX100M5 although the M3 was still in excellent condition and did virtually all I needed for it to do. They hold their value very well and you will see that Sony still sells the M3 for only about $150 less than the original price even though there is now a M4 and M5 on the market.

I use this camera when I am going out and just want to grab something that fits my shirt or pants pocket and I can take anywhere. It has a view finder which is a must for me as I can never see the LCD in sunlight so I dont buy any camera that does not have a viewfinder. It also has a small flash which I seldom use because with a wide open aperture of f/1.8 I very seldom cant get a photo without having to go to the flash but its there if I need it. Its 20MP so it is no slouch on quality. I have other cameras I use to shoot birds and take on photography trips, etc, but for something to take with me anytime I walk out or go to a restaurant at night just in case, this camera does the trick.

Try holding the flash head vertical when you take a shot. The bounce flash is interesting.

Not only is flash tiltable for bounce angles, it works ok for fill-in. I’ll match it against any cellphone camera, because....it’s a camera. Also, there’s a way to program it to explode if the user tries to take a selfie.
Can’t do that with cellphones.

I have the mark iii & iv. They are wonderful cameras. I was going to sell the mark iii because my wife bought me the mark iv only months after I bought the ii but never did. It fills the gap between the best cell phone camera and my FF cameras when going out. It’s a shirt pocket size and does selfies with its flip around viewfinder. Fits in my wife’s pocket books.

I had a RX100 3 and the lens cover would not open all the way so I got rid of it. Replaced it with a Canon G9X II. I had other cameras with this type of lens cover and never a problem.

I think all cellphones should have this feature.

Whenever I see someone do a selfie...right next to a long drop...I want to give them a leeetle push.
