Well...I just tried uploading an animated GIF. It doesn't do a thing. I'll try and find a MS animated picture and see if it works.

One of our friends has posted well here, and I like them answer very much. I also think that it is called a video, and we can't take the photo of moving pictures. A photography is only available with Stability.

Now we should be looking for a tutorial on how to PRINT these cliplets - as used in the Hogwarts newspaper The Daily Prophet.

With video editing it is possible to pick out 1 frame and have it printed.

With the progress being made in "e-book" readers and "3D-Printers" then this can't be far away :?.

These sound an awful lot like animated GIFs

After checking out the link I think it is basically a GIF with the exception this appears to be made with a video clip not so much a still shot. Am attaching a couple GIF's that are all from stills.

You can get the video effect which is basically a sort of stop action shoot, if say, you want to go for a walk around the block and cross the road then turn around, all while looking through your camera. So, you just take as many burst shots as you want (or just keep clicking single shots as fast as you can) while you walk and then collect everything into a slide show and choose the timing between slides to about 0.10 seconds and then let it play. You will get the video effect yet it was shot with all still shots. It will look a little jerky depending on how many frames you were shooting as you walked. Less frames equal a more jerky video effect. The whole thing will take up a lot of space in a slide show programme though.

By moving are you talking about time lapse, or a slideshow (a compilation of several series shots) or a so motion vid that slows down the pouring action ?

if it is a fixed position like the wine pour it is still a series of still images taken quickly. If you go out for a short walk and shoot every .5 of a second and come back and put all the images into a slide show with as I mentioned about a 0.10 second time between images with no dissolve between shots, you will get the movie effect image.

They aren't videos, they're basically animated GIFs and there's a very strong subculture of creating some very detailed, elaborate ones. There's even an argument within the culture if you should pronounce GIF as the peanut butter (JIF), or with a hard G, as in GIVE. A GIF is programmed to loop neverending.

no, not video, an actual pic, say a woman outside, and her hair is moving with the wind, just the pic, not a video.

I've seen the effect, but I believe that's still a video. I think you freeze the face & then loop the hair blowing in the wind. Done strictly from a group of still photos is going to result in a "choppy" effect.

Just my $0.02

This is another version of basically what you are talking about. Take one of the first three I sent and open it in PhotoShop or any editing program, you will get a better idea of what the GIF file consist of.

The truck or the kid with the dog, click on download and you will see the finished product.

I didn't rrealize that microSoft had a program to make those.

Your correct about the GIF not being a video, copy one to your desktop and open it in PhotoShop, you will see what they are.
