In the 1970's my father ran a motorbike garage in Cornwall (UK) and I ran a lorry.
I used to regularly go into the Triumph factory at Meriden, collecting bikes for my father and various other garages that I delivered to.
I was going into Triumph when they were getting into financial troubles and Tony Benn (of the Labour Govt) set them up as a workers cooperative.
Unfortunately also when they couldn't repay their loan and Maggie Thatcher put Triumph out of business.
I also used to go to Shenstone collecting Nortons for a while before they finished, when they were sold under NVT.
Sometimes I would collect the ex-police Norton Interpols from an auction at Bracknell, in fact I used to ride around on one that had the Combat engine.
In the late 1980's my father had a big auction and sold off his collection of 50-60 old British bikes - so it's all just a memory now.
Nice collection there. I use to own a couple of triumph bonnevilles & a matchless back in the day. The matchless had a spark retarder that when adjusted just rite while rolling on the throttle made the thing a rocket!
Nice pano...love the subject.

Strange as it may seem, I once knew a priest who own one, along with a Triumph chopper and a Honda Gold Wing.
Hey, with all that money from the collection plate, the priest can own whatever he wants.

Absolutely magnificent. When I was younger I owned a Norton 750 Ranger. Just as beautiful as these motors in your photo. Total love. Better than sex! I'm attaching a photo of the Norton.

Where is the Triumph?
Yeah, that's what I was wondering.
When I was much, much younger I hopped on a friends 500cc BSA and promptly ran into a chain link fence since no one mentioned that the controls were in different places than a Japanese bike!

Oh those days were a challenge, weren’t they.
I had a BSA and later a Triumph and I drooled over a Norton Manxman.
