I've been away from photography for several years, so this is my first post in a long time.

I'm trying to decide between the Sigma 18-300 zoom and the Tamron 18-300. Both look like they have the same specs, but the Tamron is $200 more. My question is, is the Tamron worth the extra $200? TIA

My vote is for Tamron . . . I've seen several reviews that claim Tamron products are better than Sigma. I personally have a Tamron 18-270 and a Tamron 18-400 and am well pleased with both . . .

I had the Sigma 18-300 when I had a Dx Nikon, and never really liked it's results.

Tamron products are better than Sigma's? Probably some are, but the Sigma Art Lenses aren't second fiddle to Tamron products.

Tamron does NOT make an 18-300 lens. They do make a 16-300 and a 18-400. I have found the 18-400 to be the best super zoom lens on the market today.

I do not buy independent lenses and I am not stating that they are not of good quality but I prefer to buy the lenses that the manufacturer of my cameras make for them. One exception is Olympus and Panasonic that have a joint venture. Lenses from one brand fits the other and I use those lenses with my Olympus bodies.
Tamron and Sigma, I repeat that I do not use those lenses, from what I know and have seen manufacture some pretty good lenses. Those who own Sigma are very pleased with the optical quality of their lenses. If you ask Tamron users, like you, they also say they are happy with what they have.
I will not discuss which one is better because as I said I only use original manufacturer lenses.
