excellent advice rpavich . we all get bitten by the upgrade bug and sometimes it is great. They always keep coming out with new tech improvements but what makes a great picture is the photographer not the camera. I've seen many technically wonderful pictures but the best are the carefully composed from the original vision. Enjoy your creativity.

The Panasonic FZ2500 was manufactured to compete with Sony's RX10iii. Since the RX10iv was released, sales of the FZ2500 have dropped, and it resulted in a price drop as well. The FZ2500 is a very good Bridge camera. But, it is not the best of all Bridge cameras today. The Sony RX10iv is now the King. Until?

I want to thank everyone who stepped us and gave me an opinion. I especially want to thank the one who pointed out that Panasonic has the habit of introducing new products frequently. I looked online and there is a FZ3000 to be introduced soon, Canon is finally going to introduce a replacement for the SX 60 and Nikon is upgrading the P900, which I have and have gotten some good pictures from. I would have been very upset if I had bought the FZ2500 and found it obsolete quickly.
I intend to take my time and hopefully my next camera will be my favorite camera for at least awhile.

Thank you all.

I always have to laugh when someone says read the manual from cover to cover when you first get a new camera. Beyond the "getting started" section of the manual much that you read will be meaningless until you start shooting with the camera. Use the manual as a resource as you gain experience with the gear.

I think that you are wrong. I have Nikon and I have been using for years. I recently got a Sony. There is not much that is the same between both systems. If you don't have a working knowledge of the camera system, you had better read the manual, or at least watch some good YouTube. If you don't have a an idea of how the systems work, how are you ever going to use the bells and whistles in the new camera. If you already know how to use the system, them a brief skim might be all that you need.

Waste of money. I've "upgraded" several times and each time it wasn't because of a real need, it was because of the grass being greener. I would be embarrassed to tell you what cameras I've owned and how many lenses I've owned. Suffice it to say I could have bought a car for what I've spent on this boloney.

I know I'm in the minority but my advice is; invest in experiences, not gear. Do your thing with your current gear and spend more time experiencing life.

I love it. "Invest in experiennces," is good advice for most of life, not just camera gear.

Question...Is it worth it....for me who has spent his retirement walking the trails with a bridge camera...This purchase is the best camera I have ever had....Those of you who decide to give it a chance will be impressed...Just get the guide by Alexander White for $30..It will be of great assistance setting up the menu. I saved for a long time and took a month to decide. Just saying for me this is the piece of equiptment that seem to be perfect.

I am strictly a point and shooter. I am not a photographer, but I take hundreds of pictures most years. I have several cameras located so I can usually get to a camera when I see something I think interests me. My two favorite cameras are a Nikon PL900 and a Panasonic FZ1000. We are taking a trip next summer and I have the itch to get a Panasonic FZ2500. I think Sony probably makes a better camera, but it is much more expensive. I would think I am probably not the only on this site with the" gotta have the newer camera" disease. I would think several of you had the itch and bought the newer camera. Was it worth it? Do you think you wasted your money?

Some of the reviews state the 2500 is difficult, the manual that comes with it is worthless. and the online manual is 300 pages. Is it so difficult that I will miss pictures on our trip because I cannot figure it out? I would appreciate your advice. As of now, both the P900 and the FZ1000 will go on the trip with us. I am 75 years old, but still farm and can handle carrying those cameras.

No it's not worth it. I answer you base on the fact that you like the Sony better but they are more expensive. If you like a camera and it's expensive then don't buy. Do not buy a compromise.

Sorry for what you are stating you are dead wroung. These are my past cameras...HYX300...Fuji S1...FZ300.....FZ1000...SX50....all small sensor except for the 1000 not enough reach and noisy. I could rattle off the pros and cons of each. Fact is the RX10M4 has very few cons and has been spot on the trail...Look if you are saying I made a mistake in this purchase I don`t in anyway feel that I did. With the weather sealing and all....great package for Florida. With 24fps great for birding and surfing. 600mmx2 clearview very little or no noise. Not worth it for you ...fine but extremely worth it for me. Look just stating my opinion and maybe you should pick one up or rent one before you state a negative.
