Just came across this issue today for the first time:

I went out this morning to shoot some showroom products for a friend. I used my Canon 7d mark ii for a few shots, and had zero problem uploading photos, from THAT card, to the laptop - a Macbook Pro.
My problem came trying to upload photos from my second camera, a 2 month old Canon 6d mark ii, purchased from Canon refurbished website, and using a Sandisk UltraPlus 80mb/s 32g card that is only filled to 14g's. Up until today, I have had zero problems uploading photos from this card, and all my photos are there thru the last shots from yesterday on that camera and that card.

When I got back home, I put the card into the computer, and NONE of the photos are there. All photos thru yesterday ARE there. What I typically do is place the card in the computer, go to the card, and download all the photos onto my external harddrive, then grab the photos from there to edit in LR6. Always done that, always works out well, never had an issue seeing my photos on the card.

What ended up working is that I opened up Canon's Image Browser software, and was able to see the photos there, and from that was able to highlight my photos and download into my folder on the external harddrive. But I have never had to do that before.

Any pointers out there for why that might have happened? As stated, I've never had an issue seeing my photos before. And the card is less than half full. I've got plenty of harddrive space on the laptop, and it's running as it should. Can't figure this one out.

Incipient card failure. Since you got your images, junk it.

Since you were able to download the images it doesn't sound like a card failure.

Did you use this card in 2 different cameras? If so it could be that the second camera created a second folder. When you tried to download using the computer you did not address the second folder. Just a guess.

Nope. I've used this card only in this camera, and when I first got the card, formatted in this camera.

I guess I made a bad guess.

Naw! No bad guesses when we're trying to narrow it down. For now, I'm gonna go with a bad card.

BTW, I forgot to add in the description, that the photos CAN be viewed when I put the card back into the camera. I can scroll through every photo on the card.

Did you by chance switch from JPG to RAW?
I just can't figure if the card is bad, how does the Canon software read it?

You can get dirt on cards, causing sectors to not be read. I would try using some Isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip and cleaning it first before throwing it away.

When was the last time you formatted that card in camera? I always format the cards in my cameras just before I start the shoot. It serves as a last-minute check that the card is readable by the camera.

I don't know how the Canon software reads it...and add the fact that the camera reads the photos just fine also. Something related perhaps? Never, ever had this before.

And no to the jpeg question...when I first got the card and put in the camera, when it was new, I shot in RAW and jpeg...but then switched to only RAW, which is what I normally shoot anyway. Haven't had any other problems with seeing any of the RAW files since switching to all RAW.

Ah! OK, I will give that a shot. Had not thought about that. It's practically a brand new card, but anything's possible it sounds like. Will do that!

I formatted when the card was brand new, and did so in this camera. I don't tend to format before shooting, and never have had a problem in doing so. I will try two things suggested here, by you and another...I'll clean the contact points with alcohol...AND, I'll format the card again to see what, if any difference all that makes. And if that makes a difference, I'll use the card to shoot my birds only, but will get a brand new card for anything important.

If it is the card it could be under warranty (10 year or Lifetime)
