$300....If I was looking....HX400 was a pretty darn good bridge camera....Seemed to focus on the long end much better than a HX300....Fuji S1...weather resistant 50x also....One I would buy again is the FZ300....great low light and good to 600mm...I don`t think you will get tack sharp photos with a small sensor if you shoot with Optical zoom turned on on any long lense camera....I hope I helped and didn`t add to the confusion of so many opinions...I have owned and shot with all these and still have the FZ300 as my go to camera....FZ300 4k photo....B and H has a used one for 470....Amazon has one fulfilled by them for 409.....either way you get a month to shoot with it...I like the 4k photo setting and as a video camera its pretty darn good IMO

The camera that will work best for you will be the one that has the best collection of features that you will use. I recently went through the search for a bridge camera, and considered the following:
Is a viewfinder necessary? I think this will be quite helpful for most photographers since it can help in holding a camera steady and often easier to use than a monitor in bright light.
Articulated monitor? Very useful for high or low angle shots, and to protect the monitor when not in use.
External flash? I'm not using one now but they can be so helpful to well-lit photographs that I felt it was a must.
External mic? If you will use the camera for video this can be quite helpful.
Length of telephoto needed? I settled on the Canon SX 60 (1350 mm + 4x digital) but rarely use longer than 600mm.
Bluetooth or wi-fi connection to cell phone? Even if you don't move your photos to your phone or table, these are very useful as a remote shutter release--no need to carry a cable release when camera shake must be avoided.
Once you identify your preferences and priorities on these (and likely other) features, you will settle on just a few options, and will be happy with any of them. Just choose one, spend a little time to learn its features, and enjoy!

I second the gentleman's comment about a viewfinder. Living in Florida and shooting nature photographs and sports. I have found a viewfinder absolutely necessary. Every screen washes out in the bright sun. You can go to best buy or Walmart and look at a row of cameras that if you went outside you best have a towel to put over your head and the camera in your kit. If you shop at B and W or Adorama or Amazon you will get a month to try it out with a no question return..If you do Amazon make sure the product is fulfilled by Amazon...That will make it extremely easy to return if you wish. Also there is the canon refurbnished site. Every camera I have purchased from them was like brand new with a good warranty thrown in....Anyway just go and have fun and remember it is an adventure

I’d like to purchase a camera that’s fairly easy to use for taking great pictures of birds and wildlife, Sunsets etc. I had a Nikon Coolpix B500 very briefly but the lens got stuck and I had to return it. My pictures did get pretty nice even though it was new to me. How do I get the sharpest and clearest photos from a camera. And what camera would work best for me. I want to stay around the $300 amount

Nikon B700 might be the best for what you want to do, and what you want to spend. Here's a good deal on a refurbished by Nikon B700.

Thank you. In the past when I purchased cameras I always liked having the view finder it was much easier to see in the bright sun
