A recent trip to Florida gave me a chance to try my new equipment (D500 with 200 - 500 5.6 lens). Would appreciate all input and suggestions.

Great equipment followed by a good photographer to capture great images.
Dude you do not need help unless you just started last week; those are great! Almost every one fits a "Rule" of some kind , leading space, single subject centered and rule of thirds; the only thing better is two or more rules in the same frame. 5 is an instant masterpiece.
Stan is right but with flash you better be darn good, you only get one shot.?
Keep up the good work - Terry
That’s a really good tip. I was on a birding trip to Mexico recently and our guide used something similar that enabled the light from the flash to go a greater distance. With it, he was able to get great pictures consistently, even of owls at night. Right now, I’m just trying to learn the basics, but I’ve been seeing how dependent I am on the light conditions. Thanks for your input.
Thank you Terry. I will admit to watching an awful lot of videos on various aspects of photography, from understanding exposure to AF to the use of Manual Mode. A lot to learn, but I just retired, and this is a perfect adjunct to my passion for birding.

Very nice. I was just in FL at the Wakodahatchee preserve shooting birds with 200-500mm and my D5. A lot of fun.
