Anyone know the rules about the use of “pods” around our national monuments in DC? Everything I’ve seen on the internet is old info.
Thanks!📸

The Smithsonian Museums don't have a uniform policy on such things as
backpacks or tripods. You need to check with each place you want to go to.

I shoot with my tripod all over the mall; no issues. The permits are required for commercial use.
Outdoors and indoors along the Mall, the various buildings have slightly different policies. One thing that is for sure, zero monopods nor tripods are allowed on the grounds of the US Capitol. The Capitol Police will chase you down and ask you to leave if you try using either of these and they see you. I have some great night images of the Capitol and many buildings from a tripod and zoom. The traffic is a lot less at night and you can set-up on the less travelled avenues and shoot at a distance with no problems.
That's a riot! I'd love to see someone try to use that in any city.
