I know one can get travel bags which include a wire in the strap so it cannot be cut and stolen off the wearer. Does anyone know of anything similar in camera straps which can be used when traveling.

Gun stores.... Concealed carry luggage almost all have braided wire in the shoulder straps..... Oh yeah... they also have a concealed pocket for your handgun. A real bonus.

Also, when I went to Peru in the early 90's the tourist agencies and the government both suggested that I enclose my backpack, or at least the inside of the bag in woven chicken wire to frustrate thieves working in duo as "slash and grab" teams. Woven chicken wire is the wire fencing used to enclose chickens in a pen or yard. It is not wire woven from chickens. Not easily cut with box knives and the contents grabbed up when they fall out of the "cut" bag or backpack.

PacSafe/Carrysafe straps can be purchased from Amazon. These camera straps have a wire mesh inserted, to prevent cut and run thefts. I've heard of this style of theft in some poorer neighborhoods Abroad. Better safe than sorry though. You can get one for $30. Backpacks are sold too. Amazon sells different types and different prices. Good luck.

I might be misunderstanding the original question, but i would be hesitant to put a steel cord around my neck to prevent someone from stealing my camera. That could be quite painful, or worse.

It would be no more painful if the strap was made from Kevlar. The steel cord is woven inside of the strap and if a knife was used to try and cut the strap it would not make it through. Any strap that is meant to hold a camera would not break with someone yanking on it. Take one of your old camera straps, put it in a vice and try to rip it, tear it, yank on it. I bet you will not hurt it.

Not any more. Read the posts about those who are complaining that B&H is sending info to individual states on out of state purchases to keep people legal.

The implication seems to be that all those who do not get charged tax, are not "legal".

The legality is that if the seller does not have a retail presence in my state, there is no obligation to pay sales tax. B&H can send whatever they want to my state, and still no sales tax will be imposed.

Other states may have different viewpoints, and that could change in my state in the future.

The legality in my state is that B&H doesn't charge me sales tax, but the state expects me to pay it directly to the state as part of the annual income tax return. Colorado had the same expectation, and now they are forcing merchants like B&H to report these sales.

Guess that’s the difference between being seen as a citizen, or a subject of the state...

Yeah, but wire woven from chickens might be pretty interesting.

Good point, but I was referring to your blanket statement that said "B&H, No sales tax." Not true in many states, including mine.
