Was wondering with all of the Professional and highly experienced photographers on here which websites they have found most useful for establishing their portfolios and why as I am currently comparing website options for establishing mine for hopefully potential future sales? Am also curious about any negative feedback and related experiences they have had with putting their portfolios online as well, given of course that all of their work is watermarked?
Thank you very much in advance for your thoughtful and insightful responses!
For a non-profit organization, we use Zenfolio.com and has everything you need - albums, feature photo options, sales, etc.
You can set photos to be viewed but can't be downloaded if want to avoid watermarks.
Smugmug...been very happy with them since 2007. If you do decide to go with them get a user coupon code to get 20% off your first year (it also gives the person who gave you a code the same discount off their account). My personal site can be found by clicking on my user name.
Zenfolio, you shoot, you edit, your customers go to your website, it's easy to set-up your website without code, you upload your work, your customers make their selections, and you can go back to shooting,
If you choose Zenfolio, under the shameless self promotion category pls use my referral code 6PR-UT2-Q8Z, it will entitle you to get a discount on the plan you choose

I really need to dig into the myportfolio tool. The weakest part of my wordpress site is the portfolio. I could just hyperlink to the adobe option. Looks simple, and clean, which is what I want.
I use Zenfolio. It's the only portfolio program I've tried, but I'm quite happy with it.
You may want to check out picfair. You load your images and define the price without any website costs.
Many thanks Stardust- will most definitely check this out! :-)
Thank you very much Bill- have not "converted" to PS/LR PP yet, but will be very soon and I will be exploring this option! Thanks for the helpful insight!
Thank you Clint- have heard of SM also and will be investigating that option as well, & thanks for the coupon- will most definitely mention/refer you if I use that option!
