Would appreciate any info you all can give me. Want to invest in a lens for my Canon T1i. I take some portraits, landscape and wildlife.. Looking for an all around good lens as I can't purchase multiple lenses at this time and just have my 2 Canon T1i kit lenses and a 50mm 1.8. I have seen several things about the Canon 18-200 being a good all around lens. Looking for help from those of you with much more expertise than myself.. Thanks for the help, Kat16
I can't say anything about the 18-200 but I can say that I have the Tamron 18-270 and I love it. I don't use it for wildlife though.
I'v used the 18-270 since it first came out.
I never take it off and I shoot everything.
The only thing you have watch is when you
point your camera down---the lens slides out if it's
not locked. But you get used to it.

Good Morning,
I too have the Tamron 18-270mm Lens and very happy with it, I love the all around use, especially the telephoto aspect, have gotten some pretty good long range photos in my opinion for one with my limited Photography knowledge and skills.
The only small annoying thing is when carrying the lens in the retracted position, if I don't click the lock switch it tends to creep out and I worry about snagging it on something, thus causing an accident with my camera.
I am using the Nikon D-5000 a mid entry level DSLR, by no means am I an experienced or expert in photography.
Just one who enjoys photography very much, enjoying the learning and memories I have made with my Camera.
The "Hog" is excellent and you will get good advice from those who know more than I and those more trended to the Professional side of Photography.
The very best to you in your selection of a lens.

The Tamron 18-270mm Lens, First edition does creep, but can sent in for repair and they will fix it. Remember it has a 6 year warranty. If you buy the newer version 18-270mm Di II, which is lighter, narrower, 62mm filter size, this one does not creep. I have this one and no problem. My friend had the first addition and they fixed it , no charge. BV
Thanks, Guess I will have to send mine back, I bought it April 28, 2012. I was able to get the $100 rebate available if purchased that date or later.
The one I have creeps, when carrying, I have to keep the lens lock on or it will creep out enough to be a snag hazard.
I will check it out with Tamron for return and this warranty issue.
Thanks..

Send it back. That is why you have a guarantee. Mine never did.
