One of the things I thought about was the length of the exposure. I wonder if the water would not have been rendered essentially the same with an exposure time of a minute. Or even less. After comparing one minute and 30 second shots of my own, I thought I had achieved a point of diminishing returns after 30 seconds. just a thought. I don't have experience with such long exposures to know how much the unwanted effects are enhanced. Its a really cool shot, and I hope you can't wait to get out and do some more of these. its clearly not a question of skills. Its about how you go about choosing your compositions and exploring ways to get the look you are after.

Very nice. Frame it and hang it where it can be seen by your friends and family.

I took this last summer using a Nikon D7100, 18-200mm Nikon lens set at 24mm and f3.7, approx 5 minute exposure using Firecrest ND4.8 (-16 stop) filter. Some post work in cleaning up noise etc. Would like to improve my skills in this type of photography, any comments, suggestions or critic's are gladly welcomed. Thanks for looking.

I think you will enjoy it, there are a few tricks to the trade so I would read up on it a bit first, Joel Tjintjelaar has some great articles on it and also some fantastic photos.

Great shot! I really like the contrast that B&W provides. The lines of the bridge, horizon and the clouds works very well together. Excellent composition.

Blaster 34 you are correct on location, it is out near the marina at Lakeside, one of the first breach points of Katrina, that's what damaged the docks, so I'm told.. I know I did some night shots there about 6 months after Katrina, very creepy at that time, but that location seems to keep drawing me back.
