What a stupid meme.

You left out working under the table to undermine citizen employment and then sucking up gubmint spending.

Stop being a tool.

I'm sure there are lots of Americans lining up to pick tomatoes in California for minimum wage and these immigrants are denying them the opportunity.

If the immigrants weren't there, the companies would have to raise the wages for Americans to work for them....God forbid THAT to happen. It's the COMPANY that benefits from hiring low-wage ILLEGAL immigrants.

Having picked tomatoes as a kid, I find that unlikely, which I'm sure was your point.

If tomato picking paid 20+ dollars an hour I would only do it as a last resort in order to not starve to death.

Interesting that you don't seem to feel that you and I and everybody else who eats tomatoes would be the ones who would pay.

But you do not speak on behalf of all Americans - only yourself. Lots would disagree with you. And you can bet your last dollar that when machinery is cheaper than human labor, the companies will go that route. They don't care about the illegals they pay low wages to.

Lots haven't picked tomatoes, most of us couldn't survive on what it pays. If I remember correctly it paid by the basket. It takes over a week to get your hands clean, or at least not green. But it was never my intention to speak for all Americans. You could probably find some takers but not enough to get the crop out of the field.

It used to take weeks for dozens of men with scythes and bushel baskets to harvest a 200 acre field. I live across the street from a corn field. Now it takes 2 days for 2 men with 2 trucks to chop those 200 acres. If it cost $20 an hour per man and many men to harvest any crop sooner or later machinery would be invented to do the job quicker and cheaper. But as long as cheap labor can be used there is no incaentive to change.

And crops bred for machine picking always taste so much better. Strawberries have been bred to transport better and they don't taste like they used to. There are tomatoes that are machine harvested, but in breeding them, much has been lost. Tougher hardier fruits and vegetables handle and transport better. I guess that's good for farmers and truckers, but someone has to want to eat them.

Cesar Chavez hated illegals for depressing wages. Why do you want to depress wages ... is saving a penny on a tomato worth selling out your countrymen and women?

Nice spin but it doesn't fly. Where are the Americans that are willing to do that work even if it paid $15.00 an hour?
