Does anybody know if this great camera is going to be upgraded ...like longer zoom or RAW option? The price finally is moving slightly down.
Thanks Miro

Miro, I doubt that anyone (who knows anything) can say anything publicly, if they know, but my wife is waiting, too. She loves her P900 and wants the next one when it comes out. Just like you!

Most likely, Yes, but when, and how much will it cost? Only Nikon knows, and they're not talking.
There have been rumors, but nothing definitive yet. As the P900 is still selling well, wouldn't a upgraded version just cut into its sales?? Nikon will probably wait until P900 sales taper off severely. Unless, of course, a competitor comes up with something better in lens range.
you want a longer zoom than the P900?

I have this camera and it is already the longest zoom available on the market with a digital zoom so you can really get into some blurry territory. I too miss the raw and hope they would include that. I have not heard or read anything that makes me think they would upgrade it already. It was introduced March 2015. That is exactly three years ago so maybe...

Actually 3dees, the rumors I read referred to a 100x zoom compared to the current 83x.
Don't have any idea how true this is.
I gave up waiting...bought the p 900
I asked Nikon support if a firmware upgrade was in the works to allow a longer shutter or even a bulb mode, the response was less than friendly. I'm not sure what all could be added via software updates but would be nice to have some neat tweaks.

That's always the $64,000 question with any camera. Nobody really knows for sure and Nikon is going to keep it a secret untill a new model comes out.
The P900 is not the longest zoom on the market. The Kodak PIXPRO AZ901 boasts a 90x zoom from 22mm to 1980mm, optical and there's also 4x digital zoom. It has both auto and manual focus, auto and manual zoom, a "smart ring" on the lens which can be used to quickly change settings programmed by the user, an articulating LCD and many other bells and whistles. It lists for $499.99, but can be found for $449. The user manual (pdf file) complete with specifications can be found at

"Super Zoom" cameras present several challenges to manufacturers, the biggest being design of the lens; I keep hearing users like the Canon SX-50 better than the SX-60 ... I'm guessing lens design is the issue - and that sort of thing could happen to Nikon, especially if they rush it.
Somebody wrote on another site that the P900 was Nikon's runaway best seller of all their cameras. Does anyone know if this is really true??
I have recently compared Nikon7100 with Tamron 19-300 to Nikon P900. The size is almost the same, the weight also. But again ...apples and oranges. However the ultimate zoom/quality plays winner = Nik900. I may be wrong.
