This happens with at least three different cameras, so it must be a "problem" with the room itself. Is this the only place where these orbs appear? If so, it's some kind of reflection of something off something else. Definitely strange, whatever it is.

The spots look like the result of stray light bouncing around inside the lens optics. Notice the strong light sources in the frame. They look blown out. The reflections of light therefrom may have played havoc once inside the lens.

Modern lenses correct for this lens aberration.

In any event, you will want to avoid such light sources appearing within the frame when shooting.

Others here may offer better explanations for these bright spots.

Keep at your photography. Learning the craft of photography requires diligence over time.

Good luck.

If you get the same spots on all images with a light background then you have a dirty sensor. Take your lens off and use the mirror up setting to inspect the sensor. Spots this big you will see on the sensor in the right light. Use a light and magnifying glass to inspect it.

Though it could be a possibility, I had spots on the sensor of my D70 and they showed as dark, not bright like shown.

To the OP, have you checked your filters in addition to the lens glass? A couple of those spots seem smeared, like a liquid had been splashed near the camera. Have you tried using a lens cleaner on any filters used as well as the lens?

ORBS! Absolutely a Haunted property. Do a search on Ghost Orbs. I don't think you need to vacate the property. If things start moving on their own and you start hearing knocking sounds or the sound of someone walking when noone is there, you might consider an exorcist. Again, it could be and probably is dust or weird lens reflection. Best of Luck!

One other thought, could be a light leak into the sensor of some kind. Light like water will find a way to penetrate if there is any kind of crack or opening.

Mia, I suspect you have dust on your sensor. Some body has explained how to clean it. Be very careful if you do this. I would suggest that if it is possible for you to go to to a photography store that has a technician they can look at the sensor and let you know if this is the problem or not. Some have cleaning services but they may charge you for this. One suggestion was to blow air unfortunately this could result in dust being blown around inside the body. The usual technique is with the mirror up you use specially designed swabs that are sized to your sensor size and have been dipped into a special solution that absorbes the dust. These materials called sensor cleaning kits and you can buy online or at a photo store. Before you go this route usually the store won't charge you for the techie to look at the sensor to make sure this is the problem. Hope this helps and good luck with your photography. Don't be disappointed by these setbacks.

There is no way this is sensor dust!

As Jerry says: If it is a similar problem with three different cameras, it has to be the room.

Hello everyone! I am new to the forum, though I was recommended this page to get any help I may need. I am a high school student taking a photography class, so I obviously don't know as much as you. It would be great to get answers!! Haha.

Long story short, when I take pictures, I get either glowing, or faint circles in my photographs. This happens with my Canon digital camera (pretty sure it is a 35mm), and my small (and old) Nikon camera (I have to check, but I think it is 16mm). This is not water on the lens, fingerprints, or anything on the glass. I don't know what this is...

Also, the photo that I posted was NOT taken with flash... So this is not flash photography. They dont appear in every picture, and only sometimes. THIS IS NOT MY PHOTOGRAPH, because the photos I had wouldn't upload to my computer... But these circles are the same as the ones in my photos. I will see if I can get my original photos up soon.
Thanks for listening and hopefully answering me!!

Dear Mia. Welcome , welcome to the forum. You will have on this forum lots of help and good advise from professional photographers. I agree that is something in the sensor on your camera. Dust, water spot ? You need to uploaded 2 -3 pictures - different places from only one of your camera (write the model) to see the spots. Also separate download 2 pictures from the other camera ( write the camera model) if the spots appear on the pictures from different camera.
Good luck to you and your photography passion.Regards

Mia, before the problem can be accurately diagnosed, you must be clear as to what type of cameras and lenses you are using. Your identification of the Canon is confusing. It sounds like it could be either a digital or possibly a film camera because of your reference to 35mm, which would make it a film camera. We must know if it is in fact a film or a digital camera? The Nikon camera cannot possibly be a 16mm film camera, since Nikon never made movie cameras (16mm is used for motion pictures and the only still camera to use 16mm film was the Minox "spy" camera). In fact, all Nikon film cameras use 35mm film.

Please show both cameras to your photography class teacher and ask him or her to clarify what types and model cameras and lenses you have.

If it turns out that they are both film cameras, the problem may be related to the film or processing you are using. Since you have two cameras with two different lenses (Canon lenses will not fit Nikons and visa versa). The chance of two different cameras having the same problem is highly improbable. Given the fact that some of the circles are not near light sources, the speculation about internal reflections as the cause is questionable.

Once we know exactly what type, brand and model cameras and lenses you are having this problem with, the closer we will be to a correct answer.

It looks like mold to me. Check the lens very carefully. If it is an old camera, mold tends to grow inside the lens.

It looks like chemical contamination, and I am guessing this is from a film camera since digital can't do that. Please confirm, film?
