So, Would it be Nuts to Give up my 70-200 for 3 Primes?

If you get the primes, keep the zoom. The convenience and versatility will probably have you used it the most. To me, primes are only preferable when you have more time and space to change lenses and/or move around before takng the shot.

Thank you that was very helpful, I go for Sigma because of the price difference. I have a Nikon 810, but have, in general, been a little disappointed with the 50-500 4.5 to 6.3 apart from being heavy it does not focus well enough for BIF. I will be purchasing one of the ART lenses like the 85mm though as now you have explained it to me I understand more about the difference. Thank you once again.

The Sigma 50-500 is not a great lens.
The Sigma 150-600 is quite good (I have it).
The 150-600 G2 from Tamron is even better ( so I have read) (35% cost premium over the SIgma)
....and the $10K telephoto primes are even better for BIF ...lol

...and the 85mm will focus quickly and accurate for most indoor sports and the IS/AF on my 5DmkIV will allow me to shoot in the dark :-)

Thank you for your help. I do like BIF type of photography and that is why I purchased the 50-500 when it first came out, but, as mentioned, I am disappointed most of the time with the results, so perhaps time for a trade in.

The 85 mm is not going to be for BIF but a more general use of portraits and animals etc. Can't wait to get to the show.!!!
