Uber texting me ... or a scam?

I get many texts, supposedly from uber, asking me to 'enter uber code 8253 to confirm your number.'

i got 10 of these last night.

anyone know the deal? is it uber? or a 3rd party scammer? and if so, what's the scam?

If you are NOT absolutely sure that the address is legit, DELETE IT! And I do mean absolute. Relative is not good enough these days.

Ignore it completely. Uber got hacked last year, and personal information was taken on those who had an account with them, including credit card information. They kept it a secret, until investigators busted them. It involved over one million Uber customers.
