That's a big boy. Love the dust shots. And WOW, that's close! I'm glad she was friendly.

Beautiful shots of a MAGNIFICENT animal. I love elephants! If we the people of this earth are not careful it will be photographs like these that you have taken, are going to be the only proof that they once existed. Again GREAT shots!

In the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania we encountered this large bull strolling down the road. He was much bigger than any of the other males that we had seen, just regal in stature. Then, later in the day we were treated to another form of elephant bathing...the dustbath. This big guy stood before us and picked up dirt with his trunk and then blew it all over his body to help rid himself of pesty flies and other bugs. In one of my photos, he was completely covered and the picture looked like a blurry blob. The girls in the last few photos were not shy. One came right up to our jeep to have a peek and I snapped the shot over my friend's shoulder.

A wonderful encounter that you can share and return to any time. Have memories and photos of a lion in the Ngorongoro getting shade under our RangeRover in 1998....and many more!

My next post will be the lions, followed by the cheetahs. I hope you they will bring back fond memories for you.
