FUNNY THAT HAPPENS WITH SOME HUMANS

I guess that's why they say don't feed wild animals.
Find out what dry food they can tolerate, then help 'em by feeding 'em a bit during the winter...and away from where humans live.
They are just like people. Give them free sruff and they won't work for their necessities. It might look cute but Mama Nature didn't mean for it to work that way. It isn't like they will starve if he doesn't feed them. Wild critters will go where the food is. Nature maintains a balance on its own. When this type of thing is done it only disrupts that delicate balance.
Damn filthy, destructive creatures. They are horrible here on the farm.

People forget that raccoons are wild animals. The danger is not, as this video implies, that you will have a yard full of mooches. The danger is that the raccoons will become accustomed to people, and then some close interaction will end up with both sides injured.
My brother had a couple of dobermans (dumb as posts) who cornered a big raccoon one night. The raccoon killed one of them, and the other was so badly injured my brother had him put down. Don't know how the raccoon fared, as he didn't stick around.
Another story: We live within a few blocks of open land, and get the occasional varmint passing through. Our neighbor left food out for them, and we got lots of varmints passing through. One night a raccoon decided he had a taste for chicken, broke into their house, and ate their parrot. They felt betrayed because they thought they had a deal with the critters.

They carry disease and are a threat to cats and dogs. Think of them as huge, oddly-colored rats.
I have been feeding them and whatever comes to the Critter Cafe for as many years as I can remember, and I have never had an army.
Oh, and they don't starve because I have the same customers every summer. As long as they are wild and fear me they are not dangerous.
It is only a mistake if you try to make them into pets.
If you live rural, those raccoons will ransack your house while you are gone looking for food in cupboards or wherever. They are smart, and will find ways to enter your home. They are not very well liked in the mountain regions in my Area. As well as Coyotes. They walk the streets like they own it sometimes.
This post has flushed out the most degenerants I have seen since I started using UUH. Excellent examples of Me Me part of our country.

Be a victim of the ring tailed critters antics and you will be singing another tune, "Woe Is Me" comes to mind.
